reboot pains

by jcf. Average Reading Time: less than a minute.

The thing that pains me most about this conference, are the chairs. There are three different models in each of the halls, and they compete in the “which is the most uncomfortable” category.

There is no clear winner, all of them are extremely uncomfortable in the long run. They therefore can’t be of danish design because danish design not only looks good, but serves their intended purposes.

These chairs clearly don’t.

  1. I couldn’t agree more; it was always a relief to go from one kind to the other, but within 15-20 minutes my ass was already in pain again :|

Those chairs? Bah, that’s nothing. When I was a younger man, I took a year of Film history, and that year of experience of sitting badly for long durations of time has not yet been surpassed.

The “backs” of the chairs, though, who thought up the smart idea that the user should be able to fiddle with the back-rest? You could hear people occasionally popping their back-rests out of place. Weird design.

Haha. Chairs in all kinds of public places have those competitions going. And how were the lectures anyway? Anything interesting at reboot?

    P.S.
You got some nastry MT-errors underneath this comment form.

  4. @Olle: But you weren’t sitting for 8 hours+ straight on those film chairs, right? Besides: that class wasn’t meant to be enjoyable, I guess – otherwise you could have gone to the cinema ;-)

@till: Thanks, I have seen those errors. My MT installation is kind of old, kind of flaky. I plan on moving away from MT any day now[1], so I won’t be doing to much maintenance on it anymore…

[1] I’ve been saying this for a couple of monts, I guess it will take another couple of months before I actually do it

You are all very lucky people!

When I was a kid we were lucky if our chairs had seats at all!!!

And if the had – well they would have great big spikes coming through the seats!

Nahhh – the kids of today they are spoilde

(couldnt resist – saw Monty Python resently)

    :-)
